Micro Session #4: Unplugged and Plugged Integration
Micro Session #4 gives participants an opportunity to explore CS content and lessons with both unplugged and plugged integration into other content areas.
Description
Participants will analyze the sequence of an unplugged CS lesson to a plugged CS lesson and discuss its perceived constraints and affordances. This lesson-oriented learning session applies conceptual CS content as a low-risk unplugged activity before engaging with newer tools and programming skills of a plugged learning experience.
Course Objectives
- Why should some computer science concepts be taught in an unplugged manner?
- When can unplugged lessons support computer science instruction?
- How can I align unplugged lessons with a plugged companion lesson?
Prerequisites
- Attendance at Micro Session 1 AND Micro Session 2 is required
- Micro Session 3 preferred but not required
Audience
- Educators from grades K-8 and all content areas, as well as any staff supporting student learning.
- CS Ready Schools Impact Team Members
Knowledge Level
Intermediate - Participating educators need a basic knowledge and understanding of the CS SOLs.
