Micro Session #3: Intentional Integration

Micro Session #3 gives participants an opportunity to explore the curriculum frameworks and lessons aligned to integrating the Virginia Computer Science standards.

Description

Participants will explore the Virginia Computer Science requirements for their particular level, and focus on the importance of content/domain integration. Learners will use the curriculum frameworks to set the scope and depth of lessons and build intentional connections between core content and computer science using procedures created by CodeVA.

  • What is “intentional” integration, and what does it look like?
  • How can I intentionally plan a solid CS-integrated lesson?
  • What skills and knowledge are necessary to teach a standard in depth?

Prerequisites

Attendance at Micro Session #1 AND Micro Session #2 is required

Audience

  • Educators from grades K-8 and all content areas, as well as any staff supporting student learning.
  • CS Ready Schools Impact Team Members

Knowledge Level

Intermediate - Participating educators need a basic knowledge and understanding of the CS SOLs.

CodeVA professional learning is free for Virginia and DC public school educators, preservice students and educators, and Dept. of Defense Education Activity teachers.
