Middle School Elective: Computer Science Discoveries

Code.org's Computer Science Discoveries (CSD) curirculum provides students with opportunities to explore many facets of computer science, including programming, physical computing, HTML/CSS, and data. Student work includes building websites, apps, games, and physical computing devices.

• Analyze the CSD curriculum and align activities with the VA Computer Science SOLS
• Implement pedagogical techniques from the CSD curriculum
• Confidently lead computer science lessons and activities through interactive peer teaching experiences.
• Identify and foster positive dispositions toward the CSD curriculum and materials (persistence, willingness to make mistakes, resourcefulness).

Middle school teachers interested in teaching the Computer Science Discoveries curriculum

Beginner - Participating educators are not expected to have knowledge or experience teaching the Computer Science Discoveries Course.

CodeVA professional learning is free for Virginia and DC public school educators, preservice students and educators, and Dept. of Defense Education Activity teachers.

Tuition applies to all out of state and private school educators. You can find out tuition costs HERE.

1. Your email is not all lowercase

2. Your email domain is not approved

3. Your profile is incomplete (a completed customer profile is required for registration).

Pre-service teachers and educators should email educators@codevirginia.com for a waiver to register.
