Project GUTS: Growing Up Thinking Scientifically

This course prepares educators to teach Project GUTS by building and using the models they will use in the classroom and gain a deeper understanding behind computer science, complex adaptive systems, and how to integrate CS into their existing SOL science content.

Course Format

• Live Kick Off (required)
• Complete all coursework and modules in Canvas

• Understand how computer modeling and simulation address VA CS Standards.
• Gain experience and confidence in leading lessons and activities.
• Practice and be able to instill positive dispositions in your students (persistence, willingness to make mistakes, resourcefulness).

Science and computer science teachers

Beginner - Participating educators need no knowledge or experience with the CS SOLs or the Project GUTS curriculum

Attendance at the kick off meeting is required in order to participate in the course. Failure to attend the kick off meeting will result in being dropped from the course.

CodeVA professional learning is free for Virginia and DC public school educators, preservice students and educators, and Dept. of Defense Education Activity teachers.

Tuition applies to all out of state and private school educators. You can find out tuition costs HERE.

1. Your email is not all lowercase

2. Your email domain is not approved

3. Your profile is incomplete (a completed customer profile is required for registration).
